I've been playing Witcher 3 on medium at about 30-40 fps, but I often gets fps drop to 1-2 fps for a few seconds.im not sure what is the problem but when I look at video online, people who have similar gpu and cpu as me but with higher ram is not having this problem. So is it my ram or its my computer's problem?

My laptop :
Hp omen 15-ce1032x
I7-7700hq
Gtx 1050
4gb ram

Solution

Each games consumes a different amount of RAM from the system. Some games like overwatch aren't as demanding as games such as Wither 3. For higher end games, 4GB of ram is going to cause you tons of issues. I'd recommend 8 GB at the very minimum and 16 GB to be in the sweet spot.

I can't believe a modern laptop with a discreet GPU shipping with 4GB.... I would expect 6GB to be the absolute minimum, 8GB being most common.

Titles like Witcher3, 1080p, medium settings will use a little >6GB alone.
With OS overhead + and other tasks/apps etc running, if you're running with 4GB, that's to limit you quite a bit.

Assuming temperatures are in check, the 4GB is almost certainly the culprit.

Unless you have a 1050TI with 4GB VRAM? In which case, the VRAM isn't likely the issue - not at medium settings anyway.

In any case you need to open task manager and have it running while playing Witcher 3 to see if any of its monitors spike when your game microstutters.

Ram usage, cpu usage, gpu usage

"Right click the task bar at the bottom of the screen and click Task Manager"

Ok that is VERY strange. I think there is something wrong with your laptop, the memory should be at LEAST 8gb

First off watch the language.

Secondly Overwatch requires far less resources than Witcher. 4gb is not enough for that game at all and is the source of your problems. Honestly that configuration is bizarre I can't believe they would sell a gaming laptop with an i7 and only 4gb ram. thats just wrong.
