can i have both my back up files and my os installed in the same hdd? because i backed up my files to another hdd because my first hdd was failing and has many bad sectors so i backed up into another hdd but im planning to install my new os to this hdd where i backed up my files

Solution

Installing the OS on this drive will wipe out whatever is on there.

In theory, you could maybe do some partitioning during the install.
But I would not expect that to actually work for what you want to do.

In addition...the "backup" you made is of no use to a new OS install.

You're trying to "fix things" from a bad drive in all the wrong ways.
