What cpu should I pair with a GTX 1080?

As stated above, I want to get a new cpu for gaming on a 165hz/1440p monitor. I'm pretty settled on Intel, and I've been thinking about i7 8700 (non k) or the i5 8600k.
Which is better? Is the i7 will really be better on the long run? Will it hold on longer than i5? Thanks.

Well in some gaming scenarios the 8600k is already being maxed out. So it might be best to go with the 8700 non k instead. You wouldn't gain much by instead having the 8700k at 1440p. I think you will be more GPU bottlenecked with the 8700.

Some games don't work well with hyperthreading. Which means an 8600K will beat an 8700K in those scenarios.
But the difference isn't big.

The i7 is a better multitasker and will have less stress on it thanks to its hyperthreading.
