Mouse delay in games

I have recently bought a laptop from my friend and the laptop came with all his files, I had to force reset by formatting the hard drive as it did not want to reset. Anyway, after I got windows installed I downloaded PUBG and Fortnite and in both of the games, there is mouse delay and an FPS drop on PUBG. It makes the game unplayable and annoys the hell out of me. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know thanks. :)

Laptop Specs (Asus ROG G551VW):
Nvidia Geforce 960m
Intel I7-6700HQ
8GB RAM

Mouse: Razer Deathadder

Could be a couple of things. V-sync on/off. Try both and see if it makes a difference. With V-sync on it can cause lag. The other thing would be to check in game settings and Nvidia Global Settings. Try reducing in game settings to high/med or whatever just to see if there's an increase in FPS, particularly minimum FPS, as that's where the FPS drops hurt most. Also, in the windows mouse settings, make sure to turn off enhanced pointer precision, as this can cause major problems for those types of games. Have a look at this if you've never set up a gaming mouse : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXnzLgakST8
it's really interesting, a little vulgar, but relevant to all mouse issues with gaming and is worth a watch.

Try doing a clean install of the nvidia driver. making sure all profiles are removed. You can do this in the Nvidia Driver setup, by selecting Custom Install and then the clean install option.

Also, if you are using GeForce Experience. Don't. Just un-install it. It's a piece of junk and has a way of destroying the gaming experience.

edit: your GPU, although decent, will struggle a little with high/ultra settings at 1080p. I can't determine if your panel is 60hz 1080p, or the 4k/UHD version. This would impact your gaming FPS too!

Hi Keith, Thank you for replying to my thread. I have tried all the solutions you have stated above and here is what I have found. Changing the v-sync to on drops the FPS. PUBG and Rainbow six siege are both running on the lowest settings yet there is still FPS issue + mouse delay ( In Pubg the best fps I get is at 40 but it goes down to around 20 as the game progresses, The mouse delay isn't as obvious but is still very annoying. In Rainbow, I would get 60 FPS and it would drop to 20-30 as the round progresses and when the FPs drops on both games the mouse delay becomes unbearable. In Fortnite the mouse delay is there but is un-noticeable and is dependent on the FPS I get which ranges from 60-100 ).

I found that enhanced pointer precision was already off and the mouse setup tutorial did not change any of the issues. I tried to do a clean install of the Nvidia drivers many times and it all failed but the Nvidia control panel would say there are pending updates which need to be done to update the drivers. When I would try to update through the set up it would fail, forcing me to re-download GeForce experience to download the update for the drivers.

The Asus laptop is the 60hz 1080p, not the 4k/UHD version. But I don't think that is an issue as all games I play are on low graphics with the exception of Fortnite. My old laptop was an HP Pavilion which had a Nvidia GeForce 940m and Solid state (which is the main difference between this Asus laptop and the old one) and it would have more FPS then I am currently getting (plus it had stable FPS) but my old laptop had the issue of mouse delay as well only on rainbow, Overwatch and PUBG. I fixed this by reinstalling the drivers and it was back to normal (I have tried re-installing drivers on the Asus laptop and it did not make a difference).

Because of this do you think it could a piece of software that I have on both devices (anti-virus?). Also, the friend I bought it off did not have the mouse delay issue and was happy with the laptop but as soon as I got my hands on it these issues came up. Please let me know if there is anything else I should do to try and find a solution for this. I am willing to go to a laptop repair shop but I don't know if and who would be able to fix this. Thanks
