SSD Low write speeds

Hi

I'm having an odd issue with the write speed to one of my SSDs.

I have an Asus P8Z77-V mother board with a number of SSDs connected. Two of the drives are 240GB SV300S37A240G, 1 is on the OS drive on C and another is a storage drive on D. Both drives are connected to the SATA6G ports using 6G cables.

The following is the read/ write stats:

Java:
[code]winsat disk -drive c
> Disk Random 16.0 Read 170.04 MB/s 7.6
> Disk Sequential 64.0 Read 425.04 MB/s 8.0
> Disk Sequential 64.0 Write 196.75 MB/s 7.3

Java:
winsat disk -drive d
> Disk Random 16.0 Read 198.09 MB/s 7.7
> Disk Sequential 64.0 Read 503.33 MB/s 8.1
> Disk Sequential 64.0 Write 510.29 MB/s 8.1

You can see on the C drive the write is quite slow. What I've tried:

  • Confirmed both drives are on the same and latest FW 60AABBF0
Swapped the SATA port and cable
Ensure ACHI is enabled in the BIOS
    Updated Chip Set Drivers
Disabled write caching on the device

Other Stats:
Processor: i7-3770K
Ram: 16 Gigs Kingston Savage (2 X 8 GB)
Graphics: 2 X MSI GTX 970 in SLI

Thanks :)

Solution
The "problem" is this - ' SV300S37A240G'

That is a badly flawed drive. Kingston did a bit of bait and switch after the initial release and reviews.

Amazon review:
"These drives are no longer good! Kingston switched the NAND controllers from async to non-async, making the drives significantly slower. The new versions only get 180MB/s read while the old versions could get 450MB/s +. Simply google for "Kingston V300 bait and switch" to see countless other people disappointed by these drives."

Your quite right, I used a different benchmark tool and the write wasn't able to sustain at 500mbs.

Definitely looks like the slower disk is part of the switch at bait, quite naughty!!!
