Hey all

So recently I've found that my games skip whilst streaming. They use to work fine, everything was smooth, but since my windows updated the other week it now skips. Rainbow 6 siege does it every time, and more often than not PubG too.
I've checked settings, changed graphic settings, checked internet, restarted router, drivers etc etc, but I can't work out why its started or how to fix it!

If anyone has come across similar things or have idea on how to fix it, I'd be very grateful as its effecting my streams xx

Solution
With the skipping and stuttering while streaming, the only thing I can see that would be the problem here is the 7700K. It is a fantastic gaming CPU, but simply doesn't have the cores to encode a stream while playing. So, you have a few options here.

Option one is the cheapest, and that is to lower your settings and/or stream quality. The advantage is no cost, the disadvantage is that the game doesn't look as good and there is the chance of losing followers that don't like the loss in eye candy.

Option 2 is to get a low end system to use as a streaming box. A hyperthreaded Pentium or a nice fast i3 would be ideal for this application. You'd also have to get a video capture card for this setup. The advantage is having all the power of...

Sorry, I forgot my specs ...

Nvidia gtx 1070
Asus prime zz70-k
16gb Ram 3000mhz
1Tb storage
Ping between 11-20

Other than telling you to scan for malware to see if something is taking resources that shouldnt be there, it is tough to track down a "my PC runs slower" type of issue. It could be maintenance, it could be hardware, could be a virus. So start with the scan, and it may require you to eventually re-install Windows. Hard to tell at this point. Your PC should be plenty to stream those 2 games, they arent terribly demanding. What is the make and model of your PSU?

Option 3 is to upgrade your CPU to something with more cores. The i7 8700k, the Ryzen 5 1600/2600 (or X), the Ryzen 7 (any), or a higher end i9 would be worthwhile upgrades... well... I say upgrades, they aren't going to increase your framerates, the R5 or R7 might lose you some, but they will smooth out gameplay and let you stream smoothly as well. The disadvantage is having to upgrade a working computer... also price.

Hope that helps.

The 7700k is more then capable of playing and streaming both of those games, the cpu is not the issue.

Check your temps when streaming and playing as doing both can add a lot of excess stress on your cpu and gpu.

My first thought would be your hdd. Are you recording the stream to your hdd? The skips could be your hdd struggling to keep up with demand. Or simply a failing hdd. Maybe try running a disk check.

A lot less likely but could also be an early sign of ram failure so try a memory test.

Failing all of those since you said it started after an update something may have corrupted somewhere along the line, restoring a previous point before the update or reinstalling windows would most likely fix it if it turns out your hardware isn’t failing.
