Hello, I have the i7 8700k and the ASUS GTX 1080 ROG STRIX advanced and the cpu is going up to 68 degrees celsius in BF1 at Maximum settings. Im using the Noctua NH D15 and the CPU is running at stock clocks at the moment.

Solution
71c under load is perfectly fine.

Replying to zyh1987, the 8700k is not really that hot not compared to the 7700k anyway. And using liquid metal on top of the IHS does not void the warranty nor will it help temps all that much versus a quality paste. Removing the IHS with a vise then applying liquid metal directly to the die voids the warranty, and can significantly improve temps in some cases.
that temperature looks decent, I would say use temp delta as oppose to absolute temp when comparing with other online reviews if you want to see how well you are doing. as temp delta gives a better reading. 8700k rubs very hot unless you to would like to void warranty and replace TIM to liquid metal.

71C in a graphically demanding game is perfectly fine, it is quite hot but definitely nothing to worry about.

Intel CPU’s can get up to around 90C before they’re at any risk of frying, but they will throttle down before that happens.

If you’re temps get to 80C I would definitely look into a better cooling solution, but any less then that is safe
