Just switched from AMD to GTX frame drops, and freezes.

I switched from an old Radeon HD 7700 to a GTX 1050 TI a few weeks ago. It's a much better card and I was able to run max settings in my highest spec games (Overwatch and Fortnite). As time went on, I had to drop from max to keep 60 fps and I'm getting stuttering and freezes regularly. My computer has also been freezing and I have to restart it. Specs:

Windows 10
AMD FX 6300
GTX 1050 TI
8 GB DDR3 RAM

I physically swapped cards, uninstalled AMD drivers and installed the NVIDIA ones from online. Someone recommended I use DDU to completely uninstall AMD drivers, which I did to no effect.

EDIT: In Fortnite I'm getting the frame issues at every graphical settings (Epic and Low).

Solution
Your AM3 socket board does not support newer CPUs, additionally to support a newer AM4 board for Ryzen, you would need DDR4 RAM.

Have a look at used components like ivy bridge or haswell from Intel

I will check that when I get home. It is my understanding that the GTX 1050 TI doesn't have a PCIe power plug and is powered through the motherboard via pins. My CPU was overheating a month ago, I replaced thermal paste and it's fine now. I'll be able to check motherboard later. How can I tell if the BIOS is outdated?

I have a 60 Hz monitor, I don't think I need to cap it. In game I had it capped at 60 but I took off the cap to see when it was dropping. Temps are fine.

Motherboard: M5A99FX PRO R2.0 by ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

BIOS version American Megatrends Inc. 2201, 11/22/2013

My 1050 TI does not have a PCIe port. I just switched to another graphics card slot just to see if that would change anything. I'll keep an eye on temperatures.

Update GPU temp at 60 Celsius regardless of load.

I just did a test with Overwatch and Fortnite. Overwatch runs max settings fairly consistently with no freezing or frame drops. Fortnite, on the other hand, can run max settings just below 60 fps, however it freezes and has frame drops at all graphical settings (bare minimum to epic). My guess is Fortnite is more CPU intensive than Overwatch which would support what you are saying about bottlenecking.

Anyway, I just bought the 1050 TI and I was hoping not to spend more. If I want to future proof would you recommend upgrading to a Ryzen on my current motherboard, swapping motherboards and getting a Ryzen, or going over to Intel? I'm a little concerned my motherboard won't support new CPUs, the BIOS is from 2013.

UPDATE statistics:
Overwatch
CPU: 30 - 40%
GPU: 75 - 80%
FPS: 60 - 70

Fortnite
CPU: 50 - 100%
GPU: 100%
FPS: 45 - 65

Even if he looks at used components, its gonna cost him a motherboard swap, and its not recommended to buy used motherboards, CPU are ok used, but not motherboards.

Might as well look for a cheap motherboard that can allow you to get a Ryzen 3 1200 for $100. Its a decent upgrade and the 1050 TI shouldn't bottleneck. Here are some links.
