Here's the build

rying to connect the GPU to the PSU safely, don't want to do anything that will cause fires and according to google what I did wasn't proper

So the GPU has a 6-pin connector for the PSU on it. My PSU is semi-modular, and the cable labeled "VGA" only has 6+2 pin connectors. Firstly, I want to be absolutely sure leaving 2 of those OUT won't cause any issues with my PC. If this is a safe thing to do and the preferred method, please LMK

Secondly, the GPU itself came with a 6-pin connector that leads to 2 molex connector. Basically looks like this https://i.stack.imgur.com/TQmVO.jpg

My PSU has a connector labeled "PERIF" which can connect to both of the molex slots (I want to add that the connector included with the GPU had 3 "pins" coming out of it, whereas the one from the PSU has 4 "slots" for the pins). Is it safe to connect the GPU using these connectors? This is what I did already but it just seems off, and according to some Google searches its quite unsafe. I only started the PC for about 20 seconds like this so I don't think any damage is done yet

For reference, this guy seems to have the same GPU and molex connectors mentioned

Or do I need to purchase a new cable for the GPU?

Solution
You do not need a new cable. You are connecting the gfx card properly by using the 6+2 pin PCIe connector and leaving the +2 pins aside. The +2 pins are only needed if the gfx card has an 8-pin header rather than the 6-pin header yours has.

The adapter that came with the gfx card is for use on systems whose PSU does not have PCIe power connectors, and are only used as a last resort.
