Can I even overclock this RAM?

weirdly enough, not a whole lot of information is on the stickers but CPU-Z tells me it's Kingston, and going by the fact that it's low profile without heat spreaders it's ValueRAM.

Kingston 8192 MB (DDR4-2400) - P/N: ACR24D4U7S8MB-8
17-17-17-39-2 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCR)
1200.1 MHz - Ratio 1:18

I have two of them running in dual channel.

There doesn't seem to be an XMP profile that I could see in my motherboard options, but perhaps it's buried somewhere.

My motherboard is an ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Aura
North Bridge rev. 07
South Bridge Z170 rev. 31

And if my overclock on my CPU has any effect on my ability to overclock my RAM then I have an i7-6700k overclocked to 4.7Ghz at 1.4v

I initially just tried a basic overclock to the next level up of frequency for the RAM but no go. I'm sure I'm going to need to up the voltage to try and get anywhere but I'm not sure if it's safe to do so with this memory specifically and if it is, then how far am I allowed to go with it.

Any info and insight into overclocking this RAM is greatly appreciated, or if it's even overclockable to begin with.

My CPU-Z specs if you feel you need them

yes you should be able to overclock the ram (assuming your mobo lets you) but to what degree is a different matter. what gain are you trying to get with the RAM? more FPS or editing workflow?

Find which model it is, and then overclock it to its normal profile of 2400, and do the OC with the values you see on the OEM website for that particular model.

In regards to poah: I am just looking to get every ounce of performance I can out of my hardware, a bump in RAM could lead to a bump in FPS but would also lead to a bump in CPU performance. It can also lead to improvements in boot up time as well.

In regards to Evvvvv: Not sure what you are trying to say, but I already have it at the OC value that it is rated to run at which is 2400Mhz and CL17.
If you were chiming in just to tell me to "overclock" my RAM to it's rated speed then that was a pretty nonsensical and pointless thing to say seeing as how I wasn't asking about overclocking it to it's rated speed but overclocking it further than it's rated speed.
If you were trying to say something else then please be more specific.

I said when you put RAM into your PC, it takes default speed of 2133MHz. Everything over that can be considered a overclock, but yes you can call it its rated value.

your ram should have timings that the manufacturer has deemed stable. So for my vengance 2400 kit it can run 14-16-16-31 2400mhz @ 1.2V its SPD timings are 15-15-15-36. I can actually run the kit at 14 15 15 26 (41 tRC) 1T 2666mhz @ 1.25v I can also tighten up the timings at 2400 to cl 13 too.

if you are already running the ram at 17-17-17-39-2 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCR) 2400 try bumping the speed up to 2666 at the same timings and see if it boots. then start on the timings. Your tRC should = tRAS + tRP. Then you can work on the rest of the main timings. You will probably have to bump the voltage up to. try 2666 1T 16 16 16 32 @ 1.35v if that works you then tighten up some more or reduce voltage. alternatively you can try and increase the speed at the higher voltage and leave the timings alone.

ok, so I thought I had set and locked in my timings but I guess not, because I noticed when I bumped up the speeds it changed them to stupid ones that naturally wouldn't work like CL15 or something. So I locked them in again at the rated speeds and have booted into windows and even started memtest and it's been running for a bit now.

So what I want to know now is how long would you recommend I run memtest for to be safe in assuming my settings are stable?
I am using memtest64 by the way since it's free. I have Aida64 as well and it has a memtest function, should I use that?
Give me recommendations on the tools I should use and how long I should run tests for.

--UPDATE--
It got stuck at the tail end of loop 3 and froze my PC.

Your best bet would be to just buy faster RAM and OC that if you wanted to get stupid. I believe RAM is binned so unless you're getting 3000+ Kits you probably won't see much improvement.
