computer barely boots up, psu fan dead

My computer only boots up after 100 attempts (not even exaggerated) Usually takes me 40 + minutes to get it up, and the fan of the PSU died recently.. but once I get it up and running it seems to work "perfectly" (well I don't see any issues) at first nothing happens when I press the power button, then after a while it starts a ticking sound (not the fans, I keep shutting it on/off) eventually it loads up but windows can't load up, (requests system disk,) after another several attempts it works
the question is, is this salvageable? I wanted to open up and look at the PSU but I've heard it's very dangerous and I shouldn't do it. the computer is pretty old...

PSU: sigma p4500ew
SSD: plextor px-128S1C ATA Device
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 3301 Mhz, 4 Core(s),
AMD Radeon HD 7570
6gb ram

Realistically I wouldn't recommend taking apart a PSU unless you have a decent knowledge of electronics because yes, it can be dangerous.

Replacing a PSU is not difficult and if you only need a small one (around 400-500W) it can be fairly cheap as well (In Australia you can get them around $50 AUD). So my recommendation would be to get a new PSU (I'm assuming that's the fault from what you've said above), the components in the computer are decent so i'd try and keep them going if possible.

Try and see if that "ticking" noise is coming from the PSU (it should be pretty obvious) if it is coming from there then you know that is the issue.

The "system disk" messages could be caused by your system not booting properly, e.g. constantly...
