Higher mhz in 'lower' gb? (1080 turbo 8gb vs 1080 ti strix)

I know there's a lot of these but i want it to be cut down to a dumbo language.

I've seen a 1080 8gb turbo with 1607/1733mhz however i've seen the "Gtx 1080 ti rog strix 11gb) is 1569/1683mhz.

I know most of the stuff when it comes to components and hardware but this made me question my knowledge.

Can anyone explain which one is worth getting etc? I know the 11gb can/will make my setup more secure for the next couple of years, however i don't know wether i should wait for the new line of cards to drop or if i should get one as the prices probably will fall when the new ones releases.

Anyway, i have a 1060 6gb strix and despite it being a rather good gpu, i still experience some fps drops in some maps in R6, however i cap 200fps in wow (i know it's not a 4k game).

In Pubg however it really bothers me that i can have a clean game on the same map at around 90-100fps but later on it's 60-80fps. It's NOT an cooling issue, i've run a few tests as well as speccy and nothing gets above 50C except my cpu on 60C, that's why the gpu upgrade.

Should i wait till the new line of cards or upgrade now? And if so, should i get the 'safe and expensive' GTX 1080 TI strix or the turbo?

I won't be overclocking as far as i know.

ps: i have a technician (he's a gamer as well) that helps me and teaches me whenever he can.

PSS: It's my second post so don't feel offended if i'm slow at replying / forget to mark it as solved

As far as 1080ti having lower clocks doesn't matter it's a much more powerful card has alot more processing power so what you see on specs is kinda confusing. It has 1gb vram (video memory ) because it's capable of pushing higher resolutions at higher fps 4k for example, it is a true 4k gaming card. Where as with 1080 you might be able to run 4k but have to make some adjustments here and there to keep fps at an acceptable rate. Theres always some compromise what ever you decide to do, if you are going to stay gaming at 1080p I wouldn't suggest a 1070ti, 1080 or 1080ti. It would just be wasting their potential. By the way...? List your system specs so that we can better understand what you are working with

Little stupid me forgot the fact that asus builds the graphic card itself and nvidia provides the gpu, and that it was factory clocked at asus..

But your answer really helped a lot, i'm running with a:

i5-8600k
Asus GTX 1060 6gb strix
8gb (soon to be 16gb) 2400mhz ddr4 corsair vengeance lpx
Corsair h60 hydro cooler
Asus TUF z370 MB
NZXT h440
Corsair cx550
1x 2tb 5400 for non-important files.
3x 7200 500gb HDDs for non important games (in a RAID)
1x 120gb samsung ssd for w10 and discord etc.
1x WD green 240gb ssd for the games i play. (got the raid and 240gb ssd for free basically)
4x standard NZXT fans.
nothing gets above 50C except cpu on 60-65C as mentioned so i don't feel like an upgrade for any cooling what so ever

My monitor:
Asus Predator XB127HU something 144hz 1ms sync 1920x1080.
HOWEVER, i kinda regret getting the 27". I forgot the fact that it'll look better on a 24" with the current resolution so i'm looking forward to upgrading my GPU as well as monitor later this year if i feel i need it.

I've been gaming for my whole life but got my first proper custom gaming rig this year, so mistakes will be made but i've been reading and learning a lot before and after i've built it with a bud. I had a tight budget and still do but it will expand later this year.

Aye i'm really pleased with my setup, just waiting till i find a good deal on a 1080 ti as well or till the new line of GPU's drop. The mining business made it too damn expensive to buy higher end components these days for us gamers..
