I think ur case choice is better.

U need a H310 or B360 for i5 8400.

If you need a bigger ssd, that apacer is good.

Thanks for all the answers. We are happy with the budget. I'm just don't know what motherboard would work, could you chose one off this website that would work with most lga 1151 cpus like i7-8700k and i5-8600k.

Well if youre overclocking just get a Z370 chipset. If not then you can get other chipsets. If I were you Id choose anything Asus or Asrock

He doesn't seem to know the forst thing about PC parts . so the likelihood is that overclocking is far off the menu. Stable running and reliable operation with an i5 8400 and B360 mobo would imo be a better and cheaper choice.

I do agree, but its his money, maybe he wants the top notch stuff. Same thing I did as I learned PC's. Not saying that its a smart thing, but well if he wants it he sure should buy it.
