Hello everyone ,

i would like to hear ppl opinion on something that is troubling me .

currently my system is : i5-3570k , asrock z77 extreme 4 with asus gtx560ti

i've found a used card same as mine for 40 euro , you think its worth it ? buying it and running SLI or spending 200e to buy a 128bit new one ?

i'm not sure if my PSU can handle SLI , i have a corsair TX650

thanks in advance .

SLI (or Crossfire) support in games has been on the decline for years now in most cases (the newly released Far Cry 5 scales reasonably well at 65-70% meaning that's the increase of FPS for a second GPU). The developers are now coding games for consoles and then making back ports for PC games. It used to be the other way around. But your issue is not just that. A lot of new AAA title games today require a minimum of 4GB memory on a GPU. But beside that, your GPU is outdated and doesn't support DX12.

Yeah at face value 1070 SLI should even smoke a 1080 Ti. Unfortunately it's rare these days. I dumped my 970s in SLI and got a 1080 Ti. I've been SLI'ing GPUs since the Voodoo 2 days of 1999 or so. It's a shame, but it's just the way things are progressing (or more accurately, regressing). I blame console gaming for the developers being too lazy to optimize code for multiple GPU scaling. I'm partially responsible I guess because I'm also a console gamer (two PS3s, two PS4s). There's just something about traveling for work stuck in a hotel for a week and still be able to game online with friends who have Playstations as well. I did the laptop gaming thing years ago and didn't see the sanity of buying a new $1,500 gaming laptop every 2-3 years.

I realize we're going off topic here a bit, but yeah... I miss my old Obsidian 2 Voodoo 2 SLi card(had to relocate the HDD in the case at the time for it to fit). Was the 1st video card I spent lots of money on. At the time I wanted the best experience I could get playing Starsiege Tribes.

Also off topic, considering picking up a Titan Xp Star Wars edition as I've been seeing them pop up(used) on craigslist for around $900 - $1,000.

but again tsapis, get that 1050 Ti.
