Hi guys,

Sorry if this the wrong thread, my first time here...

After years of struggling with my iMac, I finally ascended to PC master race. I had my friend built a custom gaming PC, better value then prebuilt. My budget was 1300 euro, keeping in mind that prices are very high because PC mining.
My (custom) specs are:

CPU: Intel 7600k
Cooler: H100i (for overclock)
GPU: GT 730
POWER: 650Watt
RAM: 8Gb
BOARD: B150MSI (friends old board)
Memory: 1TB baracuda
Case: NZXT s340 Elite
Fans: Corsair RGB

Here's the problem: It doesnt perform good enough and gives stutters.
I want to play games, like Fortnite, but I am getting 30-40 fps low, but I want to play at 30fps on high.

Thank you for your replies, it will be very helpful!

Solution
I think your gtx 730 should be more than powerful enough to run any new title (maybe not at ultra settings but at medium/high settings at a cinematic 30fps). Also, 1TB barracuda memory should be more than enough to run any game, just 16gb of regular ddr4 will be plenty already.

I think the real culprit of your system is your power. An i5 7600k will use a lot of power when overclocked in the B150MSI BOARD, mostly when using watercooling. Also, your RGB fans will use extra power because of the RGB (but it's worth it). Therefore, 650W will not be enough. Personally I suggest the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2. This POWER has 850W instead of your 650W and it is also gold POWER instead of bronze POWER. Even though it is quite pricey, it think it's a...

That GT 730 looks to be the issue. Especially if it's one of the DDR3 versions, and not the GDDR5 versions. Try running the game on lower settings.

A 1030 would have been better for the money, and about the same price as a GDDR5 version of a GT 730.

Saw another 700 series that could run Fortnite easy. Maybe the problem is power or RAM?? Or should I just upgrade to higher series?

So I just rip out GT and can play on higher??

There several versions of the 730, maybe one that has GDDR5 can run it, but if yours has DDR3 then it isn't even 25% of what's needed to run the recommended settings for Fortnite. Each video card has its own RAM, separate from the RAM connected to the motherboard.

I recommend upgrading. A 1050Ti would have you set for years. A normal 1050 would be decent as well, but maybe not on high for most current gen games.

It'll be higher than the GT card, but will still be low and not really considered playable.

Just look into a GTX 1050 TI or GTX 1060.

850W PSU is absolute overkill for his current setup. He doesn't need anywhere near that kind of wattage. He is on a 7600k CPU.

Yeah but don't forget the cpu will be heaviliy overclocked and that this is a RGB setup! He will definitely need more POWER

Thank you for your help, I found another power that might work, the CX850M. Would this one increase my fps too?

The CX850M might solve some of your problems, but I still suggest the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2. The reason for this is that the CX850M only has bronze POWER and this setup requires gold POWER. You should never cheap out on your power supply. Bronze POWER might damage your gtx 730

Oh no, I'm too late. !@$$#^%$%

The power supply was not the issue. I don't think "macbetterthanpc" had a good idea of what he was talking about. Any 80+ certified PSU from any reputable brand is fine; most of them have a 5 year warranty. An overclocked 7600k uses - I'm exaggerating here - around 100W, like 5 more than the 95 it uses to start with. An overclock of 1.4v per core is the safe maximum for lucky users.

There is no such thing as a "GTX 730", it's only a "GT 730" and the AIO you selected with everything else runs at 424W (including the overclock, HDD, SSD, and 3 case fans). You'd be alright with the 650W, at most maybe a 750W if you're paranoid about longevity. But your current issues weren't your PSU unless it was already failing.

You need a better video card. But, who knows, maybe it was the PSU... I highly doubt it, though.

Wait at least 2 days before buying anything to make sure you get recommendations from several people.
Your PSU is more than enough, the problem is the GPU the GT 730 is not enough, fortnites minimum req is a GTX 660 which is a hell of a lot better than a GT 730.

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-660-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-730/2162vsm12582

I would reccomend a GTX 1050 or 1050 TI graphics card to run fortnite with decent fps.

Also make sure you know the difference between "GT" series and "GTX" series. You want the GTX series for gaming.

Edit - Realised this is probs a troll post, anyone reading this after don't take macbetterthanpc's advise.

So I'll just return the evga 850W? Probably better anyway, because my friend has time only in one week and he says it will take a lot of time to replace. He's very busy and wants 15 euros to do it. He would do a gpu for free because it is easy.

I will look at a different gpu, but the 1050ti is too expensive for me. I found a gtx 960 on Ebay for 37 euro. Would this be a good option?

Ow ok, good advice, as I stated before, I will return the power so I will only pay cost for shipping. I will also look at another gpu

Ohh damn I was just taking a piss at ya, thought I was just feeding a troll... I did not expect you to take me serious at all. And yeah, you should probably return the power supply. Im really sorry about the shipping costs... The true reason why your pc is running slow is definitely because of your gpu, the gt730 simply isn't very fast to say the least. 650W should be plenty for your setup.

Furthermore, the gtx 960 performs very similar to a gtx 1050(ti) and is therefore an excellent choice for your build. 37 dollars is an amazing price for such a gpu!

Lastly, are you sure your friend isn't ripping you off? 1300 dollars for this setup doesn't seem like a very good deal to me... How are you planning to overclock your cpu? Your motherboard doesn't even allow for this! It also seems quite weird to me that he is asking you money just to replace a power supply. Sorry again, I truly hope you manage to fix your system.
