As far as I can tell from the laptop I just ordered the laptop comes equiped with a PCIe SSD for the boot drive. Okay... So, from my own experience this tells me it's some type of m.2 form factor SSD. But which kind is that? NMVe or SATA III? Being it's a new laptop there is no information yet as to the type of SSD it has in it for the boot drive.

What I would like to do is purchase a larger SSD ahead of time and have it when the new laptop arrives. But I can't find any information for the i7 Intel 8th Gen GL503GEES73 ASUS Hero Edition's boot SSD drive. Anyone? Help appreciated.

Solution

If it's a PCIe drive, then it's NVMe not SATA.

Saying a drive is PCIe doesn't necessarily mean anything about form factor (i.e. M.2), although many PCIe drives are M.2
