What I currently have:

- ASRock X299 OC Formula
- i9 7900x
- GTX1070
- M.2 960 EVO

I use my machine for rendering and 3D modeling. I'm moving to GPU rendering. I plan on adding two more GPUs (GTX1080) and also add more memory. Thinking a bout a second M.2 950 EVO because of the speed.

Will adding a second M.2 SSD with 3 GPUs decrease the rendering performance because of the PCIe lanes?

I'm ok with adding an SSD that uses SATA instead, so I don't use the CPU's PCI lanes.

Thanks

Solution
No. If you even use all pcie lane. It does not cause any problem.

But if you pair GTX 1070 with 1080 it would cause problem. If you want to run sli. So go for same type GPU only. Like 3x gtx 1080 ti. Or like that.
