So I just got a new cpu. Been a few months since then, maybe around 9. I'm hearing noises all of a sudden when it starts up. It disappears after reaching the desktop sceeen but I'm worried. I don't have an optical disk drive for it and no gpu. Its and a-10 processor. Could the hard drive be failing already? I had an external hard drive that failed recently.. Would it have affected my hard drive or is it just one of the fans in it? If its the hard drive I'm so dead.. I don't even have enough money to replace the old external one :c

I'm not really sure what sort of noise it is, but I think it's more of a grinding than clicking noise I think. Is it possible to send a recording here? Lol. It doesn't happen all the time when it starts btw. Just sometimes

Swapping like replacing them or just taking them off and putting them back in?

Edit: and no, I haven't tried that. I'm sort of scared to mess with the cpu because I just messed up an external hard drive already

Swapping, try another sata cable and another psu power cable on that HDD and see if it works.

Don't forget to do this with the pc turned off, of course!! If you try to remove the data cable before the power one with the pc on you'll certainly kill the HDD. Always TURN OFF the pc before tinkering with it.

If you can, take the failing HDD out until you buy the extra sata cables. Using it will probably further any problems it might have.

Well you should get you head inside you computer case and find the sound. Also stop calling it a cpu. That is the wrong name so you know moving forward.
When your finished with that take out the hard drive and make sure everything is connected correctly.
