Low fps on games GTX 1060 (Video)

My specs:
1.i5 4460
2.GTX 1060 6GB PALIT STORMX
3.Corsair CX600 80 Plus Bronze Certified 600w
4.1tb Western Digital WD10EZEX 64mb Cache 7200rpm
5.Gigabyte H81M-S2H Motherboard
6.8GB (8x1) DDR3 1600mhz Performance Ram

I've recently upgraded to a Palit GTX 1060 6GB StormX. The graphics card I had before was a GTX 960 2GB. After not being able to play certain games smoothly like subnautica or dying light I decided to upgrade. However, even though there is an upgrade I expected more from the card. I run games at 1080p so I'm expecting 60fps at highest settings on most games, especially if they're well optimised like GTA V.

However, this isn't the case. Games struggle to run smooth 60fps. I attached a link to a video of me playing Far Cry 5 which should run much better (based on others playing with the same specs) but it doesn't and there are noticeable fps drops. Could anyone also point out if there's anything wrong with the temperatures?

I'm wondering if anyone could suggest something I could do. Also, my nvidia is set to high performance so that isn't the fix.

If you want to tinker with overclocking, the i5-4690k is a great cpu(even if you don't overclock it). You should be able to find it for around $150 or so now.

The i7-4790 has a bit better overall performance(but is about equal as far as single core performance goes). This processor goes around $180 - $200.

The absolute best for your system would be the i7-4790k(it's roughly about a 10 - 15% boost over the i5-4690k) and this one goes for around $250 now.

Any of those 3 would be a big improvement over your current cpu. Also yes, a 2nd 8gb stick(matching) of memory would help as well.

personally, I have an i5-4690k in my primary desktop, along with 16gb of memory(2x8) and a gtx 1070 ti. It can handle any game at all playing at 1080p...

Your CPU is only slightly above the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 5. So upgrading the CPU would help(I'd suggest either the recommended 4770 or a 4790). Not sure how well your board would do with an overclockable CPU... but if it can handle/overclock them just fine, then there's the option of getting an i5-4690k or an i7-4790k.
The other problem is you only have 1 stick of ram. For optimal performance, memory should be run in pairs(so you'd want another identical 8gb stick)

Yeah I guess, it's just that when I see others will similar or identical specs play the same games theirs just run so much better than mine.

You could have 2 identical systems & still have different FPS. It depends on multiple things... what other software is installed(is there a 3rd party anti-virus/firewall running + how is it configured), what's running in the background, windows updates, when was the last time the hard drive was defragged/optimized, etc...

Thanks for clearing that up, so do you think getting an i7 and dual channel ram will make a big difference in terms of fps?

How did you uninstall the old 960 drivers? If you didn't or didn't do it properly that can also cause issues. But like stated previously, yes the cpu and ram are likely the main causes.

When I got my new graphics card I reinstalled windows and wiped the hard drive.
