8600k or 8700k which gives off more heat?

Take 2 identical setups except for the cpu. One being the i5 8600k clocked at let's say 4.8ghz. The other an i7 8700@4.8ghz. Both are also running the exact same vcore and llc.

Which runs hotter? Or do they run the same temp. Remember except for the cpu everthing else is exactly the same.

i would say 8700k is hotter, if load is the same too. due to extra overhead from HT. But, it will depends on the load in real world application. Whether the work is on going (game) or fixed ( such as video rendering), multi thread or single thread. multi thread load 8700k will be hotter as it just tries to push all available resources. For fixed load, 8700k might run cooler, as it can finish the job quicker and just sets idling. For single thread work load, it would be very similar.

This also what I was thinking. Obviously I am asking this because for all the many years I have been using aio coolers, they have always made me nervous. So I think I am going to switch over to air. If I have to drop down from 5ghz to 4.8 or 4.9ghz so be it.

I will be going with the Dark Rock Pro 4. It gets really good reviews. On top of that I can fill all 4 memory slots.

And yes it will fit my case.
