Is the back metal plate important?

Hi I just got my nzxt kraken x52 and I was removing my old CPU fan and when done a metal back plate fell off from the back of my motherboard. Is this part important or is it still important if I'm adding the new nzxt cpu cooler?

I figured it out. The instructions say yo switch the backplate when using an Intel cpu. When using a amd for my pc I leave it on and install the standoffs into it. I got it now thx tho for the reply.
