You could get a new but but not worth it at all IMO. I would just scrap it. AMD Athlon™ II X2 is very, very dated. It's like doing an engine repair on a '92 Honda Civic. You'll need to reinstall Windows with a new motherboard anyways if it's different. Even an entry level Ryzen 3 or Core i3 processor would be more than twice as fast as Athlon dual core. The integrated graphics in the Ryzen 2200G is also 2 times faster than the HD 5570 card. The PSU in that machine also probably will be the next thing to fail if it's the original one.

You probably are not going to sell a system that old to anyone. It's hard enough selling machines that are even a few years old never-mind 10+. The best place for that machine would be the recycling...

Basically, any AM2 or AM3 socket motherboard should by physically compatible - it would just be a matter of checking the CPU support page for any given motherboard (and ensuring they support DDR3 - some are DDR2 only, others are DDR2/DDR3 hybrids).

I mean, $39 nets you a used board that supports it

For $47-$60 you can still buy the odd one, new.

BUT, *should* you is the question. That's a dated platform (dated setup full-stop, realistically).
Depending what you use it for (and budget), moving to something a little more modern is probably not a bad idea at all.

It'll be hard to find an old motherboard as "new". I'm in the same position as you but my (possibly) dead motherboard is only 4 years old and I had a hard time finding a "new" gaming board with my socket type (LGA 1150).

I suggest going to pcpartpicker and using the compatible boards list to search for one in Google. If you're lucky you can find a new one but most will be used.

Good Luck

So if I wanted to rebuild it could I use the same tower and do I scrap everything on the inside? Also the links of a new build showed incompatible issues with motherboard because of the BiOS system. It there another one that will work that has no issues ?
