What kind of CPU pairs well with the Aorus GTX 1060 6GB?

So recently I bought a new GPU (stated in the title) and have been using a Ryzen 3 1200 up until now, so my motherboard is AM4, so ideally I’d probably want to stick to Ryzen. I was thinking the 1600 or 1600x, but I checked the bottlenecker as a reference and it said my GPU would be 10% too weak for that, so I’m a bit unwilling to spend extra money for a marginal improvement, essentially, I’m just a bit unsure what pairs well with this GPU, as in games, especially more CPU intensive ones, I can feel the PC bottlenecks a little, so a 6 core would probably be a minimum, Any suggestions on what pairs well will be greatly appreciated, price is no issue. Thanks in advance.

As for games that require not much from the CPU and mostly from the GPU your current CPU is fine, especially when overclocked.

However, if you want to remove any further/possible bottlenecking from the CPU in more CPU intensive games and perhaps other program tasks that require more from your CPU (especially if you're gaming and streaming with the same machine) then at least a 6-core Ryzen will do you fine.

When it comes to the 1600 vs the 1600x just save the money and go with the 1600 since it'll perform the same once overclocked, and I mean if you were to overclock both they would both go to the same level of overclock and they would perform the same.

Otherwise, if you want the 8-core sexiness that is the 1700 then you can go for...

Otherwise, if you want the 8-core sexiness that is the 1700 then you can go for that. I am not aware of what RAM you have and the speed it's running at but the higher the speeds of the RAM the better the CPU performs.

Ex: If your Ryzen CPU is clocked at 4.5Ghz and you are running RAM at a rated speed of 2666Mhz it will perform at level X. But, if you were to have that same CPU at that same clock speed but with 3000Mhz RAM it will perform at level X+, so it will perform even better simply because your RAM is faster. Not to mention that it can usually unlock more overclocking headroom for the CPU as well.

Also, I would recommend getting adequate cooling if you don't already have it. the stock cooling solution, while good, isn't recommended once you start overclocking past a certain point and being able to keep the CPU cooler when under load will result in more temperature headroom meaning you can push the voltage and clock speeds higher than on a more basic cooler.

All things you should consider when thinking of purchasing a CPU for your PC.

There's always going to be a bottleneck somewhere in the system. There is simply no way to evade that. 2nd gen Ryzen 5 and 7 should be good. Have you overclocked your R3 1200? It should still hold its ground with a 1060 if overclocked. But yeah, of price is no issue, 2nd gen Ryzen 7 is the way to go, as it came out recently and is AMD's best offering as of now.

ryzen 2600 oc'ed a bit would probably be your best choice

but in many cpu bound games it would still not be enough to fully use a 1060

In response to a question above yes my 1200 is Oc’ed, but I’m not great at it so I really didn’t push it haha, thanks for all your responses you guys really cleared some stuff up for me, slightly leaning towards either the 1600 or 1700 side, how much of an improvement is the second gem of ryzen of the first? Don’t know much about them atm
