Thanks for all the answers. I guess my difficulty was in understanding why, if the info on their website is so old and incomplete, they tell you that you MUST check with their old and incomplete compatibility list. Makes no sense to me.
Don't think of the QVL list as a compatibility thing, it's not. It's simply a list of those RAM modules which they've actually tested with success - - - there are dozens of other modules out there which will work - - they just haven't been tested to be able to guarantee it.
