Gigabyte's "supported memory list" 2 and 4GB???? Seriously?

Why does Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P-FX Rev 2.1 only show support for 2GB and 4GB memory cards on their website, when it's capable of 64GB?

Solution
It doesn't mean higher capacity RAM isn't compatible, they just didn't have any at the time to test it with.

All very straightforward - - - it's not meant to be an exhaustive list of every RAM module you can use :sarcastic:

Because there are no 64Gb kits for that year model physically on the mobo, but the memory controller on the cpu was available for that amount of ram.

The QVL also probably hasn't been updated or had ram tested on that board in over 5 years. What's the point?

Thanks for all the answers. I guess my difficulty was in understanding why, if the info on their website is so old and incomplete, they tell you that you MUST check with their old and incomplete compatibility list. Makes no sense to me.

Don't think of the QVL list as a compatibility thing, it's not. It's simply a list of those RAM modules which they've actually tested with success - - - there are dozens of other modules out there which will work - - they just haven't been tested to be able to guarantee it.
