Hi,

I build a new PC with Asus Crosshair VII Hero and Ryzen 2700X. I bought the Corsair Vengence 3400Mhz 16GB (2x8) memory for it, which is not posting at 3400Mhz, but only at 3200Mhz.

I saw at the Asus QVL that this memory is not supported at such speed: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_CROSSHAIR-VII-HERO/C7H-Memory-QVL-Ryzen-2nd-Generation-Processors.pdf?_ga=2.10944692.1246387180.1524773072-1899597752.1524580471

Since for me is more important to be able to expand the GB capacity in the future than using the memory at maximum speed, I am OK with it running at 3200Mhz or even 3000Mhz. However, I would like to be sure that I will be able to install another 2x8 set of the same memory in the future, before my deadline to return the memory expires (next 2 weeks).

As can be seen from the QVL, the following memory model has been tested with 4 DIMMs at 3000Mhz: CMR32GX4M4C3000C15. The exact model that I have is the CMR16GX4M2C3466C16. [strike]Estetically[/strike] Aesthetically I see no differences.

So my question is: should I return the CMR16GX4M2C3466C16 and buy the CMR32GX4M4C3000C15 so that I can be 100% sure that I will be able to have 32GB capacity, or I should be fine keeping the one I have and buying another equal set in the future to have 32GB (running at 3000Mhz)?

I don't mind having the 466Mhz not being used as long as I can use 32GB at 3000 - as mentioned in the QVL.

Thank you so much, sorry for the long question.

Solution
No need to return it, you'll still be able to reach 32GB.

However, you should really buy another matched pair of it now as it may be sold out if you plan to buy it later.

Thanks for the reply Philip. I would love to buy it now, but I already spent too much at this time :). I need to create some cashflow first :/

Hopefully it will still be available in the next 2/3 months.
