Hi

Basic Info

DLink Cobra 5300
Isp : telstra (AUS)
PCI wireless adapter: qualcomm atheros ar9485

After using my desktop all day with zero issue, i returned after a couple hours, to my desktop having dropped wifi. After restarting, resetting, factory resetting the modem, updating drivers, uninstalling and then reinstalling drivers, to make sure im not loosing it, i still cant establish a connection. On the LED's on the top of the modem i can see that the 2.4ghz range that is normally running has ceased. having hard reset the modem i cant understand why this would persist. I have confirmed this, by all 5ghz devices being able to connect, and a 2.4ghz hotspot from my phone which said devices can connect too i am out of clues. Also in the modem settings, the 2.4ghz band is active, with the exact same settings as its 5ghz counterpart. Following from this, using control panels connect to a network system, though a hidden network, it recognizes its presence but cant connect. im not sure if thats a default response or what.
cheers

Solution
If the 2.4GHz LED is unlit on the router even though it shows enabled in the router configuration utility, then it's the router itself that's faulty in my opinion --- a new router seems to be the obvious way to go if you must have the 2.4GHz band in working order for some older WiFi devices.
