I play in a tabletop RPG group on a weekly basis, but due to the location of one of our players he has to connect via a video call. I have been using a windows surface, and while it has been convenient, the mic cannot handle so many sound sources, and the speakers aren't loud enough (easily fixed)
As for the microphone, I have come down to four options, though other options will be considered.
Option 0, I have a LifeCam VX-5000 that I can test out, it has acceptable audio and I have been using it instead of my headset mic for some time now while gaming, however I suspect it will have similar shortfalls to the surface one.
Option 1, the Blue Snowball in omnidirectional mode, $79.99 CAD @ bestbuy
This is likely the best option, since it has good output quality, however it is the very edge of our budget.

Option 2, There is a fairly popular generic "Professional Cardioid Condenser Microphone", $24.99 CAD @ amazon
I don't know much about audio, but it should increase the quality enough at an entirely reasonable price that I can have at my door within the week... I think

Option 3, an omnidirectional condenser conference mic, $22.66 CAD @ Aliexpress
The issue with this one is it is a specific use case, is even more generic than the other one, and would take around three weeks to ship.
