AMD FX 6300 Six-Core Best Upgrade Without Changing My Motherboard

I would like to upgrade my CPU but I don't want to have to upgrade half of the parts in my PC to do so. I was wondering if anyone had a good CPU the would work for me to upgrade.

Parts:
CPU: AMD FX 6300 Six-Core
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060
Motherboard: Gigabyte 970a-ds3p

What do you want the pc to do better? If gaming then you are out of luck. You can drop in an FX8xxx cpu but most games won’t benefit from the extra 2 cores and you are still stuck with weak cores, just 8 of them instead of 6. Your best option is overclocking your 6300.

Unfortunately for any decent cpu upgrade you have no option but to change motherboard and RAM. Your current platform is based on an 8+ year old design and is just obsolete.
