I’m trying to get my home pc silent and all the hdd drives are so loud. Iv got a ssd for the boot drive so most of the time the HDDs arnt in use so I’d like them to shut off and stop spinning completely is there any what to do this and have them turn back on when I actually go to use it yea I’ll have to wait a moment for it to boot back up to access what ever is on the drive but my system is basically passive cooled... iv got a hyperx cooler on a Pentium g4600 so it never gets hot enough to make the computer fans kick on so that really makes the hard drives stand out on how loud they are

Solution
In Power Options, click Change Plan settings for whatever power plan you are on. Next click Change Advanced Power Settings and in the HDD section you will find the setting on when to power down the HDD.
