Looking at build my first pc. my goal is to able to game on the highest settings possible with a GTX 1080 Gpu I just bought. 1440p is the monitor I currently have also. I also want to do a little overclocking on my cpu. Also should i stick with the i7 7700K or go with the i7 8700

Yeah I agree, or go Ryzen 2nd gen. Also you don't need the thermal compound.

I would go with this, few changes

8600k will perform equal or better than the 7700k in all tasks/games, it's newer and cheaper.

Don't have to go with the AIO but it will help a lot as you're looking to oc.
