Hello

Does anybody know, if the optical drive mentioned in the title will be compatible with Windows 98?

At this page: https://www.cnet.com/products/nec-ad-7170a-dvdrw-r-dl-dvd-ram-drive-ide-series/specs/ it says it works with Windows Vista, but I want to know if I need to buy a new one for the "retro" computer I am building, or I if can just use this newer one I already have?

you'd probably fare best with an older CD drive only, but, you can try it...

Not sure how well recognized the DVD drives will be by the OS, despite them being IDE....

okay, thank you for answering! I will try with the new one first and see if it works and otherwise buy an new old one.
