I just recently bought a new Samsung SSD for my pc. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and then set up my old HDD for storage. I kept my old windows installation on the HDD. Now when I boot my pc it takes 2-3 minutes for windows to boot up. But once I am logged in, the SSD works fine. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Solution
Enter at "task manager" and look if "disk load" is too high. If this happens there may be a problem with the sata connection. check the sata cable, use another sata connector from the mobo or try another sata cable.

When I installed a fresh copy of windows on the SSD it booted up in a couple of seconds. But now after I have setup my 2nd HDD for storage it takes minutes to boot.

Thanks for your reply

Download and run Crystal Disk Info to check that HDD, it could be failing and causing all the trouble. Let us know the result and if you can, post a picture of the result here.

The pc is definitely booting from the SSD because it shows the SSD as the C drive and contains all of my program files that wouldn’t show up if booting from HDD.

Is there a way you can test the ssd booting along with the hdd on another pc to see if it boots normally? Also go into your Bios and make sure the HDD is setup to run as AHCI instead of IDE.

I’m actually not near the pc just remote connecting for now. So accessing the bios will have to wait until tomorrow evening.

Ok so I just made sure the bios was setup right according to your earlier posts. I just unplugged my HDD to see if that was the problem. With only the SSD plugged in it still takes 2-3 minutes to boot. So the HDD is no loner the problem.

Thanks for your help

Then it's probably the ssd. Try it in another pc.
