Solution

You need to unmount your HP laptop HDD and mount/plug it on your Toshiba one if its got at least two HDD mounting spaces. If it's got only one, you can either use the college stuff hdd on the Toshiba or you can buy/get an hdd case and use it to plug your HP's hdd onto the Toshiba laptop and transfer your important stuff onto its hdd.

You could also get an External Hard Drive and transfer your data onto that. It is always nice to have an extra backup just encase something like this happens again.

Get and external hard drive on flash drive to quickly move your files and data off of the damaged laptop. You'll readily have your files available to work with until you have a final solution for your damaged laptop.
