Recently i bought a pair of G231 Prodigy Headphones.

I plugged them into my pc and it seemed like it was going well until i started to test them out. I used voice recorder on Windows to see how the mic would sound and when i tested it, i just heard a loud humming. I turned up my mic volume and i still only heard this very loud humming, with my voice unable to be heard. I then plugged my headphones into the back of my PC and this time it was too soft, even with the audio turned all the way up.

Does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it? I basically want to be able to use my mic and not have this buzzing.

Solution
If you are using the front panel jacks on the case to connect it, try swapping it to the rear connectors. That will sometimes solve noisy mics, I actually had the same problem and that did not solve it for me either (the cheap on-board sound card was the problem)...

So I got a Sound Blaster Play!3 it is now much better, no noise in recordings or chat. Could be any USB sound card I just wanted the SBX surround sound, it is quite excellent.
