I have an Asus phone, Zenfone 5, and my charger is broken so it's really hard to make it charge. To be exact, the USB port is broken and i have to place it in some wierd way to make it charge. The rating is: output - 5.2V===1.35A, input - 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.25A. I live in EU so I only need ~220V 50Hz.

The question is, can I use different ratings for my phone? If so, how high can they be until they do damage (over time or quickly)?

Solution
Well thats basicly how i would do, either used same charger with same voltage (lower voltage wont damage your phone only higher than original charger), and thats it.
Usually all phone chargers are rated at 5V (usually a bit less than 5V sometimes like yours 5.2V), and some have fast charge 9V.

Now my suggestion from my heart is buy geniune/original charger.

Now another question, did the cable broke or usb port of charger is broken?

"The question is, can I use different ratings for my phone? If so, how high can they be until they do damage (over time or quickly)?"

I do not recommend unless you find exact voltage, amperage doesnt matter much as the Controller board draw current as it needs, for example my LG H440N i tested with my multimeter it draws as it needs around 1A since charger can provide 2A (of my samsung), because sometimes cheap chargers doesnt have micro controllers to regulate the output voltage and makes your phone go warm.
I dont mean to scare you, you can use apple charger on android it since it has very good design.

This is what i learned from BigClivedotcom (on youtube).
