I am trying to run side by side TVs through the same audio receiver. I was thinking I could use an ARC supported switch box, but I.couldnt get it to work. I just want to switch sound back and forth as needed
Thanks
Which audio receiver is it? Does it have only one HDMI in?
I'm running a Sony 7.2 Channel Home Theater 4K AV Receiver (STRDH770).
It has 4 HDMI ins. But I'm running the tv's off wi-fi. So no cable or satellite boxes. Can get sound via ARC. Only has one ARC port
would use one TV via HDMI (ARC) and the other with an digital optical or coax audio cable
The problem is, the receiver runs both ARC and optical in the "TV" mode. It can't figure out which one to play. I would have to power down one or the other tv. My goal is just be able to switch the audio between the two TVs.
Thanks for your response
You can assign the connection (ARC, optical 1 or 2 etc) to an input in the input set up menu. That way TV 1 will be on a different input than TV 2. You can't connect them both to ARC unless you turn off one.
Which ARC supported switch box are you trying to use?
Would get an optical audio switch box
The ARC switch box I used said that all 3 inputs supported ARC
Tried all 3, none worked. Thanks I will try an optical switch box, I didn't think of that.
