Is this build future proof?

Solution
It is not worth it to future-proof. You'll want in-silicon fixes for spectre/meltdown sooner than later. In any case the best future proofing in money in your pocket, where you can buy more performance later for less money, in short do NOT over-commit. For 1440p gaming all you need is GTX1070 and i5-8600k.

BTW you should look here:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/486088/Core_i7-8700K_Coffee_Lake_37_GHz_LGA_1151_Boxed_Processor

The 8700k is eseentially $270 (after the $30 discount on the motherboard).
If you want 3 years at 1440p you need to go for a 1080ti. May want a bigger PSU if you move up to a 1080ti. Everything else looks pretty good.

Not only that there really is no such thing as "future proofing". You pretty much have to buy what you can buy with what's available and go from there.

It is not about gaming, it is about security. Software patches, firmware patches only mitigate the problems, but it is still waiting for someone to find some way to get around the hurdles and exploit it. I much rather have a real hardware fix in-silicon, then those paths are truly closed off.
