budget is £250
Looking for a better card than my current R9 270X which is currently dying :'(

current specs:
Intel Core i7-4790K
Sapphire R9 270X - trash
MSI Z97 PC Mate Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard
HyperX 16Gb DDR3 1866MHz (Blue)
Samsung 500GB SSD
Western Digital 2TB HDD
Super Flower 650W PSU

I was looking at some options and came across a 1060 3gb, any better cards for the price?

The whole time I've been a PC gamer I purchased cards like the 570 Classified and the 970 FTW. I dreamed about the 1080 Ti but I knew I couldn't afford it. I saved for over 9 months and now own the best 1080 Ti on the market.

Your choice of the 6GB model reminded me of the choice I faced. I'm glad you didn't settle.

And, you're right.

I'd apply some patience. That card only has 3GB of VRAM(Thanks to Capt. Obvious:D) which is not that much these days. A 1GB VRAM upgrade isn't what I call an upgrade. Sure, the card'll be a lot better but a partial upgrade seems wasteful. Wait until you can afford the 1060 6GB.

Well, the 270X is still quite a robust card for its age. It is comparable with a modern 1050 Ti. So if you aren't concerned with an upgrade and just want a replacement, that is the way to go. A 1060 would be a speed upgrade but, if you can, you need to be aiming for the 6 GB version. The 3 GB version has graphics memory problems in several modern games. For modern games 4GB is really where you want to be at... which brings me to AMD cards. IF prices stabilize (which it looks like might be happening), an RX 470 or 570 would be a good upgrade for you. I went from a 270X to an RX 470 and I was pretty darn happy with it.

i was considering going to those exact cards as an alternative but idk if i can wait any longer it's really not playing any games nor streaming video on any browser ;/

Would buying a RX 470 or a 570 be better than going for the 1060 3gb?

Thanks for the reply, i heavily appreciate it.
Although it's not a circumstance where i can wait right now, unfortunate as it is i might have to get a 3/4gb card to replace my almost dead card, still having a problem with deciding between an RX 470, 570 or a 1060 3gb such as this: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-msi-radeon-rx-570-armor-oc-14nm-polaris-2048-streams-1268mhz-gpu-gddr5-3xdp-hdmi-dvi-d

couldn't agree more with you on that, but unfortunately it's out of my price range, but in 2 months time i'll be able to afford a new 1080 if needed
