Can't Install Game

I recently bought The Simpsons Hit & Run PC game but every time i try to install it i get the same message from 'InstallShield Wizard'.

'Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the following:
-Close any running programs
-Empty your temporary folder
-Check your Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)

Then try to run the Setup again.

Error code: -6005'

Now It is the only program running and I have an Internet connection. I do not know the location of the 'Temporary folder' to be able to empty it.

Maybe the problem is that the installer gets stuck when installing on a secondary drive. Try to copy all the contents of the installation CD to your primary hard drive and install from there. Also, empty your temp folder.

What Operating System version are you trying to install onto? That game came out during the Windows XP era.

Did you try to run the installer using elevated privileges (i.e. as Administrator)?

You may also need to install the DirectX 8.1 - Runtime for your Operating System version.

If you have Win7 or Win10, right click on the launcher icon in the Explorer file directory of the CD (.exe file). Then select properties and then Windows compatibility version to run it on. You should have a WinXP mode to run it.
