Hi so I have just bought a sony tz140 home theater I have connected it to my PC but I am getting only stereo sound no sorround ,my connection is the 3.5mm to aux from my PC to the Home theater.when I check on the speaker settings I can see 5.1 is greyed out (win10) .the Sony ht has only an HDMI out and the video Jack and audio (tv/cable) in jack.
So my question is do I get an internal/external sound card and if yes? How do I connect?
Secondly I have.a gtx 1050ti graphics but with only 1 HDMI port 1dvi port so if I get a dvi to HDMI adapter then connect to my tv then use the hdmi port to connect to my home theater will it work sorround?
Have seen on YouTube people getting sorround with their home theaters their home theater have some many audio ports while their PC have almost 6 audio Jack's while my pc has 2 only and my home theater has 2 audio ports and an HDMI out port only so idk.
And when I go to my home theaters settings page " sorround test " is greyed out could it be my home theater is fake?

Select Dolby Prologic as your surround sound mode.
The HTS only has stereo analog audio inputs so it can only be connected the PC the way you have done it.
You can't get digital surround sound with this HTS except for disc playback. If you can return it get one that has an HDMI input and output that would be much better.

hi thanks for responding but the HTS has a HDMI OUT PORT if i connect it to my graphics card hdmi port because my graphics card supports surround in Nvidia Control panel will i still get surround ? and i can't select Dolby Prologic because it's greyed out i can only select stereo

^ no - hdmi out is for linking the Sony to tv to play disks.

You cannot use the Sony to play surround sound from external sources at all.

As americanaudophile has already stated - Dolby prologic or simulated surround (options on the Sony not on the pc) will do a fake speaker fill at best.

thanks i didn't know i cant play surround sound from an external source, next time i will do research before buying another HTS THANKS.
When i select dolby in HTS some speakers don't work, scratchy sound sometimes and the volume is very low at times so i use the multi option, this issue has been bothering me for weeks now was thinking of even getting an internal sound card but now that i know my HTS is shit am glad cheers have a good day you all @americanaudophile thank you too
