BIOS update failure - Gigabyte Gaming 7 z370

Last night I attempted several times to update from BIOS version F4 to the newest BIOS version F6 for my Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z370 motherboard. I tried using both the @BIOS and Q-Flash utilities. In both instances, I reached a point where I fully expected it to update (it looked promising) as it appeared like it was going to be successful. However, I received failure errors using both methods.

I followed the steps from the motherboard manual for both @BIOS and Q-Flash. Like I alluded to, I reached the points where the BIOS file was loaded, ready to go, and for example while attempting the method using @BIOS, it recognized the BIOS file, yet failed during/after the "verifying" step and that's when the error occurred. I had the BIOS file on a FAT32 formatted flash drive with ONLY the BIOS file on the top-most directory - no subfolders or other folders at all.

I even attempted to use RUFUS and formatted the USB drive according to an older thread. It just didn't work. Nothing was changed or messed up though - it literally did nothing and failed so I rebooted afterwards and now I'm here writing this. In regard to everything else, the system is running great. The XMP RAM profile is good and running stable at 3200 and nothing else is out of place. I've only loaded utilities and drivers so far as well as Chrome. That's it in regard to programs.

I've read every resource I could possibly find about this issue and I don't know what else to do. In desperation, I even tried just the F5 version just in case the software didn't like the F6 update. The F5 experienced the same failures. I have submitted a ticket to Gigabyte and am awaiting their response. I am just hoping someone else has some experience with this. I really like the motherboard so far, and I was excited to do a full RGB build which I've started already. Nothing else has gone wrong and everything fired up the first time with no hiccups.

Please help me; thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

-RC

Solution
I wanted to follow up on the eventual solution I discovered.

I tried all the suggestions that were posted in response to my initial thread. I made sure that I had the correct BIOS file - check. I then moved the USB flash drive to a USB ports (tried two different ports other than the original). Then, I reverted back to the default BIOS settings.

What I believe to be the eventual solution that worked is that my USB flash drive held the drive letter of "D:" and when I changed this to "U:" the update worked.

Now the F6 BIOS update, when I used @BIOS worked, but after it was complete and started to execute the reboot process, it froze. I did a hard re-boot, and upon restart, everything was fine.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Have you tried moving the thumb drive to a different USB port? Your motherboard has 3 USB controllers, an ASMedia chip, a Realtek chip and the Intel chipset. Updating the BIOS through a port controlled by the add-on ASMedia or Realtek chip may be causing the problem. Just a guess.

try to click load optimized default on save and exit bar, after that try to Q flash your BIOS hope its work
i really highly recommend this since flashing BIOS which has an OC applied to it could potentially break your mobo
