Power supply questions

Hello i am building computer and this is my first time doing so and I am wondering about power supplys so currently my question is what does it mean if the motherboard im buying has a 8pin connector and 24pin connector. So should i buy a psu with both a 8pin and 24pin or just a 24pin?

About all power supplies will have the 8 pin and 24 pin connector just check the specks first and make sure it has the 8 pin CPU connector some cheap ones just have a 4 pin.
Both are needed to power your PC 24 and 8.

On newegv the second i put 24 pin and 8 pin it says theres only 3 powwr supplys.
