Hello!

As said in the title above, I would like to upgrade from 1150 to a 1151 socket. I know that I have to change some things up, but I might as well ask the more experienced guys out there.

My rig:

Asus H81-K motherboard
Intel Core i3 - 4170 3.7GHz
Asus GTX 1050 2GB
HyperX 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz
An old HDD 250GB

Is it worth upgrading to a 1151 socket? If yes, then what should I keep an eye on and what not. My budget isn't a grand, still a student, but some money available is.

If there are any advices you guys could give me, please don't hesitate. I would be really glad. Thanks in advance and have a great rest of the day!

Solution
Go for i7-4th gen, it will be better than i3-8th gen and i5-4th gen as the i5-4 is on pair with i3-8 and ryzen 3.
As it is very cheap (in my country) around 200-250$ and if you can find it for less then go for it.

This is the answer you should look at.

If it was me; Order of March for upgrades would be:

1. i5 4770 non-K
2. 1TB 7200 RPM HDD so you can actually have a bunch of modern games installed (if budget is tight, even a 5400 RPM 1TB will be fine, just slightly longer loading times, as far as performance while gaming no difference.
3. GTX 1060 3GB (much better performance for games, if that is of importance) http://
4. Another 4GB of RAM (or just buy a 2x8 kit) to let you multi-task a bit more and for some games like Watchdogs 2 that can hit near the 9GB total system usage.

Keep in mind that you can sell the components you aren't using anymore to fund this via ebay.
