Hi guys this is Austin :na: Sorry had to do that.

Hi guys as there is reports that Ram prices could be set to be brought down by the powers that be I am looking to upgrade my ram in my rig from 8GB to 16GB as I use near the full 8 gigs now.

I need some advice on what would be the best investment.

Either 2 more of the current sticks of ram I have 2 x 4GB Kingston Hyper X savage 1866mhz an populate all 4 dimm slots or sell my current modules and buy 2 x 8GB sticks of 3000-3200 ram which my motherboard can run.

Best

You wont find DDR3 RAM that runs at 3200. The fastest I have seen is 2400. But I would not worry about the RAM speeds as they dont have a big impact on performance. If you get another 2x4gb kit that is rated for 2400mhz and pair it with your current RAM, it will only run at 1866 because they will drop to the lowest speed of RAM.

Additionally, mixing and matching RAM does not always work, even if it is the same model of RAM. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested together to work. With that being said, that does not mean it...

Hi Mike I'm looking at 1866 or 2400. I thought I saw 3200mhz ddr3 ram in store but my mistake.

I've now read an article on this and from their findings 1866 isn't a bad option to stick with so I will probably go with 2 more Sticks of 1866.

Thanks for the reply

Buy it form a vendor that accepts returns just in case it does not work.
