Is my build bottlenecking?

Hi.
I have seen alot of videos about bottlenecking, and benchmarking videos.
My fps seems lower than these benchmark videos, and was wondering if i really am bottlenecking.

Specs:
Gigabyte GTX 1080 WindForce OC
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
16gb DDR4 corsair ram.
600 wat power supply.

Hopy you can help.
Have a good day.
Regards, Nicolai.

No, your system is just fine. You have a midrange CPU and a very good GPU. You cant believe the all the videos you see online. What RAM speed do you have? Ryzen scales well with high speed RAM. So if you are running 2133mhz or 2400mhz you are holding your system back some.

Every system has a bottleneck, even the most advanced systems. A bottleneck is just the weakest link in a system. The bottleneck can change between components as well. In some games that like really fast single threads, the 1600 will hold your 1080 back a little, but not very much. In games that can make use of the extra cores of the 1600 it will excel.

It is a well balanced system and I would not suggest an upgrade.

Hi. Thanks for your answer.
When I bought the parts for my pc a while back, I bought "Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 3200MHz 2x8GB" so 3200mhz I guess?
Though, in the BIOS, the ram shows as somewhere around 2133-2400mhz... IS my ram running at 3200, or 2133-2400 as displayed?

Enable XMP in the BIOS and the ram should run at the correct speed.

You ram is running 2133-2400. This is your problem. You will need to overclock the RAM to run at 3200mhz. Overclocking RAM on Ryzen CPUs can be bothersome or it can be very easy. I suggest you google the name of your board and RAM overclock. Then watch some videos on what settings you need to change to get the system to post at 3200mhz. If your board will allow you to enable XMP then try that first. But not all AMD boards have that option.

I would start by trying 3000mhz as that tends to be a little easier. All you may need to do is go into your bios and where it list your memory speed type in 3000 and hit enter. Save and exit the bios and see if it will post to windows. If it does then go in and try 3200mhz and see if it post. If it does not post you may need to update your bios, change your timings, or both.

Okay. Thank you both for your answers. I will try to find XMP first in bios, and then try to overclock it if I cant find it.
I will post here when I figure something out.

Hi.
I have now been trying to figure this out, with both or your suggestions.
I haven't found a "fix" or found out if I have my ram at the right speed, or if it is still slow.
I could not find "XMP" in my bios, so I took some pictures that I will add here:

https://gyazo.com/0786cae6c3a352d29bdc15c055b44b02

If this does not seem right, what do I then do?
Hope you can help, Have a good day.

Did you select 3200mhz for the DRAM frequency in the first pic? If so, choose 3200mhz and save and exit your bios and see if it boots. You can check your memory speeds with CPUz. Don’t be alarmed if CPUz says 1600mhz as DDR is double data rate so you would double that number to be you total DRAM speed.

Hi.
So I did this 2 days ago, and the system booted just fine. I launched FarCry 5 and did the benchmark 3 times without any problems, and I had around 10 fps more than before. Everything seemed fine, but just as I launched into the game I crashed. This happened multiple times, I set it back to Auto in BIOS, and it worked just fine. Right now i have it set to around 2800, though the game still crashes now and then. What do I do to stop this from happening?

Really want to figure this out.
Heres my discord(it would be easier to help/get help), don't know if you have it: 4Free#2117
Have a good day.

Read the message before this first ;)

Okay so.
I followed this guide:

Ensure you have the latest BIOS installed BEFORE you begin (at this date its v0902 for Asus Prime B350M-A)
-Enter the BIOS and choose "Advanced Mode (F7)*
-Choose the 2nd Tab "Ai Tweaker"
-Menu item "Ai Overclock Tuner" - Change from AUTO to D.O.C.P.
-Below that choose the DOCP memory timing that matches your RAM Spec (ie DOCP DDR4-2400 14-16-16-31-1.20v)
-Below that choose the Memory Frequency in MHz that matches your RAM Spec (ie DDR4-2400MHz)
F10 to save.
When you boot you will now see your RAM using the faster RAM timings and show accordingly.

I did all of this, and it seemed perfect!
until right now...
I played for 1h without any problems, and suddenly I crashed in the middle of a mission.
I really don't know what to do, and got so happy when it seemed fine.
What do I do?

Hi.
I will check now, and tell you the temps ;)

Pretty sure my PSU is corsair, not sure though. If its important, i will take my back plate off and see ;)
This is what it says on my order email:
Nätagg CM GM 650W 80plus bronze_ modulär (RS650-AMAAB1-EU) Modelnr.: RS650-AMAAB1-EU

My temps also look fine. I have been playing for a while now, and haven't crashed.
My CPU temp is around 65-70, and my GPU temp is around 60-65.

I will probably run prime95 overnight. Anything else I should test?
Add on to that^ Already used memtest, and no errors.
Any suggestions?

What kind of motherboard are you using and when was it purchased/installed. Some of the early model AM4 boards were only able to hit 2666 on the memory clock. If that is the case, it should be able to be fixed by a BIOs update. But I would also try 2666 and see if that runs stable.

You should be able to go into BIOs and view what the current patch the motherboard is on. Another option is doing Start Menu > typing in "msinfo32" and viewing it from there. From there you can go to the manufactures website, download the newest software to a usb, restart/go into bios, and update.

Edit: Forgot that some boards also worked at 2933 so try that as well.

Hi.
My MB is: ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS. I bought it in April-2017
I will go look for an update.
What would you suggest to test if its stable?

Version/info about my MB here:
-BIOS-version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 4011, 19-04-2018
-SMBIOS-version 2.8
-Abstraktionslag for hardware Version = "10.0.17134.1" (I know this is in Danish, didn't know how to translate it, I will put a google translate under this)
-Hardware Abstraction Battle Version = "10.0.17134.1"

Hope this will give some answers.
Nicolai.

Ahhh ASUS boards!

They call their "XMP" settingd "D.O.C.P". You should be able to find that under the "tweaker setting" in BIOs. You can then pick your frequency from the drop down. I hope that helps (and works hahaha).

Hi. Thanks for your answer.
I already have this enabled, though it doesn't help.
When I have it on, and set the ram freq to 3200, my games crash, and I get Bluescreen errors.
Am I doing anything wrong?
