My PC trips my breaker when playing a specific game

Hello,

I'll try to be as thorough as possible. For awhile my PC seems to trip my breaker when I'm playing a specific game (Dauntless). Right now the game is in closed beta and has not yet been optimized. I've recently changed my power supply to a Corsair CX 650M and then upgraded my GTX 970 to a GTX 1070 Founder's edition. My cpu is and I7-3770K. My Motherboard is an MSI-Z77 Power. All other games it does not do this, with very rare exceptions. I've unplugged as much as I can from my room. The room where my PC is on a circuit with the bathroom, hallway, and other bedroom where nothing is plugged or being powered. The PC is plugged into a surge protector with a tv, ps4 (which is turned off), monitor, and 2 lights. Again the main time the breaker trips is when I open up and try to play Dauntless. Any other game 97% of the time is fine with a few rare occasions. The upgrades for the PSU and GPU were just last night. And today when I tried to even go into actual gameplay it would trip right on cue, sometimes before I even got through the main menu of the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If that is the case then it could just have a lower rated fuse/breaker.
Otherwise, on that game you may need to turn on Vsync or actually go into your video cards driver and limit the frame rate manually.

Wasn't exactly a run of the mill strip (bought it from Best Buy) but a strip nonetheless. But why in the plug itself?

I have a similar problem with the breaker to my room. My rooms breaker is also the breaker for my Brothers room AND the breaker for the Fridge for some STUPID reason. So just because YOU only have a couple of things plugged into your part of the breaker doesnt mean that breaker isnt also powering something else in another part of the house. Next time it trips, go check other pluggs/rooms close to yours and see if any of them are not able to turn on. If that is the case then you need to either find somewhere else to plug your stuff into or have someone plug their stuff into another outlet that isnt connected to the same breaker that your stuff is on.

It's a bonus room and its on the same circuit as the bathroom (nothing plugged or on), the upstairs hallway (no lights on), and another bedroom (which nothing is plugged in and no lights on)

You'd have to understand how electricy works to really get the answer to 'why the strip' or 'why the plug'. You want to take failure points out of the equation. Those cheapo strips cause more issues than anything when it comes to house vrs pc power.

I'd start in the breaker panel, I'm betting the breaker that goes to that bonus room circuit has either a loose neutral or the wire at the breaker has melted off a good chunk of insulation and the copper is totally discolored. Loose connection. Then you put a 5A draw on the circuit, which now acts like a sparkplug at the breaker.

With that amount of heat on the breaker, the metal 'spring' inside gets weak, and trips. But since breakers are not 'switch rated', every trip just takes more and more 'spring' out of the spring, makes trips easier.

Won't be long before you turn on a lamp and it trips.
