I recently purchased this card second hand and its working perfectly but ive been noticing some odd temperatures and I wanted to know if this is normal or if I should be worried about something.

During unigine benchmarks when testing overclock the card reached 83c which I read online is the "target" temp the card aims for and that I shouldnt worry , however today I installed Witcher 3 wild hunt and while playing the card reached 89-90c... I dont know if something is wrong with my card or if this is common for this blower card model , also is that even safe?

I was thinking of opening it and perhaps changing the thermal paste? not sure if thats a good idea or if it will fix my issue at all. Any tips are welcomed.

I would suggest installing an overclocking software such as Afterburner or something similar and set a custom fan curve. I have 7 different automatically adjusted fan speeds between 40 degrees and 82 degrees. After 80 degrees I just allow the fans to spin at 100%. It usually doesn't go over 77 degrees for me then. Any higher than 90 degrees and you're getting close to the "danger zone."

I forgot to mention this is with fans at 100% , the sound isnt that bad so I dont mind it but yeah , no fan curve is providing any help here. I literally am about to open the card and see hows the situation inside.

Very rarely have I seen cards get to that temperature with the fans maxed out. What are your idle temperatures and ambient temperatures? Have you verified that there is no temperature offset and that the thermal sensors are functioning properly? It could possibly be a card defect. It seems that defects are evermore common anymore. If you have no luck I would possibly seek RMAing the card. That seems like an awfully high temperature even under load with the fans maxed especially.

Water cooling is always a solution if you don't want to send the card back but that obviously gets expensive fast.

Changed thermal paste , temps went back to 80 which is the norm , Its all good now. However now I have a different issue , I got a blue screen and my PC wont boot + EZ debug LED dont turn on while everything else (minus keyboard) turns on normally. I get no display. I tried changing GPU/CPU/Ram and nothing.. I think I did something and ruined my motherboard... even though I dont know what I did.
