Hey there,

I've recently got my hands on a 2nd hand gigabyte 1080 waterforce (build in AIO - https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1080XTREME-W-8GD-rev-10#kf)

It's a really amazing card and it works well - the temps don't exceed 60 degrees @ 55% fan speed - so nothing is wrong there (except the insane loud fan - but i gotta live with that ^^)

But i've noticed a quite high buzzing noise coming from the pump. It's not something that is really bothering me that much, but i can hear it over my case fans, which is a bit irritating since the sound is not consistent - it happens at random times, but its worst when the card is idle or under medium load.

I've included a list of the specs in my PC below

1x 6600k @3.5 Ghz (with h100i front mounted push pull config x4 fans)
1x Gigabyte z170 gaming 7
2x 4GB corsair DDR4 ram blocks
1x 650W cooler master bronze certified PSU
1x Gigabyte 1080 extreme waterforce 8GB @ stock settings (mounted at rear exhaust 1x fan)
1x 512 GB SSD m.2 from Intel (NVMe)
1x 126 GB SSD m.2 from crucial (SATA)

All fitted into a NZXT S340 white case.

I've recorded the sound with my telefone - not the best quality but it should work :)

BTW - the radiator is mounted with the tubes going out from the bottom of my radiator - tried it the other way around and same result.

Hope you can assist me to whether or not i can fix it or i should RMA it right away (still warranty for around a year)

The audio isn't clear for me on both your videos. Regardless is the buzzing sound more akin to something brushing against a surface? If so that's quite possible that the impeller is grinding against the pump's housing. If the sound is coming from the backplate area, that would most probably be coil whine.

If it's the same result with both radiator orientations, then it's coil whine. You can try and contact Gigabyte and see if you're eligible for an RMA though you will need to be under warranty and produce the proof of your purchase to them.

Thanks for the fast reply :)

I'm pretty sure gigabyte uses serial number and not proof of purchase for RMA - otherwise i'm in the bushes - im not in the possession of the proof of purchase atm :/

I have a open ticket with them now, where i wait for response whether or not its eligible for RMA - if it's just coil whine i can live with it - just wants to make sure its not the pump there is slowly dying on me.
