Hi! I'm looking to upgrade RAM for my desktop. It's HP ENVY Phoenix 800-020d ( https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-phoenix-800-000-desktop-pc-series/5358985/document/c03817976/ ) Everything is from manufacture except graphic card which I just replaced it with GTX1060

I'm trying to find right RAM to work with an old one which is run just fine. Product spec page show that it come with 8 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800.

I have read trough many forum about RAM upgrading, I need same speed, type and VOLTAGE. the problem is voltage, all forum I read state that DDR3 use 1.5 v but when I test it on CPU-Z, it's show 1.35 v instead.

The problem is I can't find 1.35 v DDR3 anywhere online, found only a DDR3L with exactly same spec. I have no idea if DDR3L will work with old DDR3 as motherboard and RAM upgrading from HP website suggest DDR3? If not, what's the best idea to upgrade my RAM to 16GB or DDR3 with 1.35 v actually exist?

p.s. the installed RAM model is HMT41GU6AFR8A-PB
p.s.2 sorry for bad English.

DDR3L = 1.35v. The L stands for Low voltage. Just to keep with this thread, can you pass on an image of the stick of ram you have? The stickered information is what I'm looking for.

Based on your Ram's Part number, I found this. Based on this link, your platform supports DDR3L ram across all channels not to mention that you're already dealing with a DDR3L stick of ram.

That being said, you should buy the exact same stick of ram or rather remove the existing stick and populate the slots with a ram kit. Preferably a 2x8GB DDR3L-1600MHz 1.35v kit.

If you're looking to keep the memory you have and just add another 8GB, you might try doing a web search for that exact model number for the best chances of compatibility. At least in the US, an 8GB stick like the one you have can be found on the pre-owned market (on ebay) for as little as $40, though that could vary by country.

Sorry, there are one typo, it's HMT41GU6'A'FR8A-PB but there're also on that website at exactly same price anyways but look like the shipping price is more expensive that RAM itself xD I din't think I can find the exact same as my existing RAM in my country so buying a new kit of DDR3L might be the best idea. Based on this site: https://www.skhynix.com/products.view.do?vseq=990&cseq=75 I think it's might be actually DDR3L

About a picture of my installed RAM, I don't think I'm able to get that soon since I can't work on PC without assistance.

Ans another question, will another stick with same spec but not exactly same model have any chance to work together? Because I don't think I'm not able to grab the kit for now, is it worth a try buying a 8GB DDR3L and try it first?

Also, thanks for the reply.
