GPU works one day, stops working the second one, then works on the third day...

SPECS:
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5450 (family PC)
RAM: 5GB DDR2
PSU: No idea about the model, but it's a 660w CoolerMaster psu.
Memory: 2x HDD 500GB in total.

EDIT: I've bought a new Quadro K600 but I REALLY want this GPU to work.

So I've been getting this weird malfunction with my GPU. Ever since I recovered it from the GPU flasher, I've been getting BSODs. This continued for about a week until my PC wouldn't pass POST.
After fixing the POST problem, I was forced to use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (using it now)
to be able to even use my PC.

Five weeks later I've decided that I was NOT going to spend a single cent on another GPU.
So I got to business.
Things I've tried (I'm a tech rookie so bear with me)
-Driver update (up-to-date drivers)
-reseating the GPU(actually worked BUT for a short time)
-reseating RAM
-Cleaning GPU with alcohol
-Re-spreading the thermal compound over the chip (I currently have no thermal compound left)

Last week my PC wouldn't boot. Though this was false, as only the integrated GPU was malfunctioning.
I tried plugging the VGA cable into the dedicated GPU and it actually worked.
I continued to use it and update drivers, but the next day..
The next day it didn't want to work again.

Thoughts? This wasn't encountered before as I've seen.

This line is interesting "Ever since I recovered it from the GPU flasher, I've been getting BSODs", so you tried to flash a new firmware to the card but it failed?

If that is the case, and you tried flashing the firmware again, thing is likely dead.
Can you buy a basic GPU from a local store and return it after testing? Your net loss would be zero, but you'd have to front the money.
It sounds like you have an actual hardware failure going on. No amount of reinstalling drivers or reapplying thermal paste will fix that. You need secondary parts to test.
Also have you done a good visual inspection of the motherboard? ...any distended caps? All fans working and not clogged with dust?

I have not flashed it. I've accidentally downloaded some malware (didn't even download it, it just appeared in my Utorrent)
. Took it to the mechanic and he said the GPU was flash. It took some time to recover from (hours of endless inspection.
As for alceryes suggestion, I do have a Quadro 600 near so I can test that out, but thing is I need to buy a DVI cable, so as soon as I purchase one of those I'll come back with test results.
Thank you for your suggestions!

If I need to clear up anything, just post another answer and I'll get right to it.

Viruses from torrent downloads are not uncommon, not sure what you mean about the GPU flash though, that term is used when someone tries to updated the firmware or change it somehow. Best way to test the card is try it in another computer, if it works there, then you can check if there is an issue with the system somewhere else.

UPDATE: I've tried replacing the Radeon with the Quadro and it works, so the fault is with the GPU.
btw I found out that my GPU was ''bricked'' so if it's true I'm tossing the Radeon into the bin.

EDIT: I keep getting 3 consecutive beeps when booting up with my integrated GPU. What is that supposed to mean?
(They don't beep when my dedicated GPU works.)

If you look at the specs of your CPU, you will find out why the system beeps without the video card added. http://cpuboss.com/cpu/AMD-Athlon-X2-7750

It's not that it's not added to the PCI-E slot, it's just not recognized.
EDIT: This is getting really annoying. My GPU worked this morning, but the screen froze at the BIOS screen!
I had to restart, forcing me to use iGPU.
I've tested the GPU on a friend's PC and it didn't work.
So I believe it's a GPU hardware failure.

Thank you all so much for the help, best answer for Hang-the-9, I'll try putting in my Quadro K600 and seeing what happens. Once again, thank you.
